The "Gräfin-Emma-Stiftung zur Erhaltung des Bremer Bürgerparks" (Countess Emma Foundation for the Conservation of Bürgerpark) was established by the Bürgerparkverein in November 2000 to ensure the preservation of Bürgerpark on a long-term basis. This foundation is aimed at providing additional security for funding Bürgerpark and Stadtwald after reaching a base amount. This was made possible by the pioneering and generous example of Countess Emma.

You can make over or bequeath your assets or parts of them to the Gräfin-Emma-Stiftung so as to support charitable projects in accordance with your wishes after your death. German legislation significantly improved the conditional framework for this some time ago. According to Hanseatic tradition, Bremen is, after Hamburg, the city with the most foundations in Germany. Over 200 foundations serve the public interest of this city, like the special case of the Gräfin-Emma-Stiftung for the benefit of Bürgerpark.

In addition to the familiar deduction of donations from taxes, contributions to a tax-exempt foundation for charitable purposes, such as the Gräfin-Emma-Stiftung, are deductible as special expenses up to an amount of 20,450 euros a year.
If inherited assets are paid into the foundation within 2 years after the inheritance, such a donation is exempt from inheritance tax.

The foundation is managed by Sparkasse Bremen and is subject to constant monitoring by the supervisory authority of the Senator for Internal Affairs and Sport. The honorary members of the foundation's board of trustees are Heinz-Werner Hempel, Walter Messerknecht and Hermann Tepe.

So why don't you join the prominent donators, after whom the edifices in Bürgerpark are still named today.
