Generous donations have enabled wonderful edifices in Bürgerpark. Some buildings were constructed on various occasions, such as the “The Northern German Trade and Industry Exhibition” in 1890, and then later torn down. Others were donated for the benefit of Bürgerpark and survived over 100 years. The four most outstanding buildings are Parkhaus, Kaffeehaus am Emmasee, the Meierei restaurant and Waldschlösschen. A graded hotel developed out of Parkhaus, which used to be a place of entertainment. The coffeehouse, Meierei and Waldbühne, formerly Waldschlösschen, are, as at the time of their original design, restaurants and cafés serving in particular Bürgerpark visitors.
